He is a multifaceted Indian film personality who has excelled as an actor, singer, producer, writer, social worker, entrepreneur, television host, and former member of the Rajya Sabha. Mithun has garnered several accolades throughout his career, including two Filmfare Awards and three National Film Awards. His acting journey commenced with the art film Mrigayaa in 1976, which earned him his inaugural National Film Award for Best Actor.

Mithun Chakraborty has made a significant mark in the Indian film industry, known as a three-time National Film Award recipient.
