Lakis Komninos
Lakis Komninos, born Apostolos Pastos on June 4, 1944, in Agra, Lesvos, is a prominent Greek actor whose artistic journey has left a significant mark on both theater and film. Although raised on the island of Lesvos, his family's roots trace back to Kefalonia. Komninos began his formal training at the Pelos Katselis Drama School for two years before graduating from the K. Michaelides Drama School. He further honed his craft with Film and Theatre studies at the Illinois Academy of the Arts in the United States.
His theatrical career took off with a notable performance in the classic tragedy "Antigone," followed by his film debut in "Egoism," where he was credited as Lakis Pastos. Throughout his career, he became well-known for portraying charismatic and complex characters, often embodying the archetype of the charming antagonist, spy, or affluent youth. The 1970s marked a pinnacle in his cinematic journey, featuring in high-budget, cosmopolitan films that gained international recognition.
In addition to acting, Komninos contributed to radio as a narrator for various documentaries. In 1975, he established his own production company, Pantheama, which was later rebranded as Media Team in 1996. His directing endeavors were highlighted when he became the first non-military director of YENED after the election of PASOK in 1981, a position he held until the organization's dissolution in 1982.
Komninos was married to fellow actress Dina Trianti and had two sons, George and Giannis. He later married journalist Georgia Kontrarou, with whom he welcomed a third son, Dimitris. His artistic lineage continues through his nephew, filmmaker Vassilis Mazomenos, and his cousin, the singer-writer Dora Giannakopoulou.
