Karen Sheila Gillan, born on November 28, 1987, is a talented Scottish actress and filmmaker who has made significant strides in both British and Hollywood entertainment. She is perhaps best known for her iconic role as Amy Pond, a key companion to the Eleventh Doctor in the beloved science fiction series Doctor Who, which aired from 2010 to 2013. Gillan's early film appearances include the horror thriller Outcast (2010) and the romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending (2013), and she showcased her theatrical talents in John Osborne's play Inadmissible Evidence (2011).

Transitioning to the American film industry, she gained recognition through her performance in the horror film Oculus (2013) and starred in the ABC sitcom Selfie (2014). Her portrayal of Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, spanning from 2014 to 2023, solidified her status as a Hollywood star, contributing to some of the highest-grossing films ever made.
