Robert Miller
Robert Miller, famously known in the wrestling world as Butch Miller, is a retired professional wrestler from New Zealand who gained prominence as one half of the celebrated tag teams "The Sheepherders" and "The Bushwhackers." His wrestling career took flight in 1964 when he joined NWA New Zealand, now known as All-Star Pro Wrestling, where he quickly made a name for himself regionally. In 1965, Miller and his wrestling partner Luke Williams were recruited to the United States by fellow New Zealander Steve Rickard, a key figure in NWA Hawaii.
Initially billed as "The Kiwis" in Canada, they performed in Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling, with Miller adopting the ring name "Nick Carter." Their first significant achievement came in 1974 when they captured the Stampede International Tag Team Championship by defeating Bob Pringle and Bill Cody. Although they lost the titles to Tokyo Joe and the Great Saki, they managed to reclaim them shortly after, only to lose them definitively to Stan Kowalski and Duke Savage.
In 2003, Miller returned to New Zealand from Florida, settling in Paraparaumu Beach, where he became a familiar face at local establishments. He met his wife, Helen, at a gym in Paraparaumu, and their relationship flourished. In 2016, they relocated to Otaki Beach, drawn to its sandy shores. Throughout his life, Miller has remained a beloved figure in the wrestling community, celebrated for his contributions to the sport.
