Olev Eskola, originally named Olaf Esperk until 1934, was born on November 18, 1914, in Tallinn, Estonia, and passed away on April 4, 1990, in Kassari, Hiiu County. He was a prominent Estonian actor, known for his contributions to the theatrical arts.
Eskola grew up in a family deeply rooted in the performing arts; his elder brother, Ants Eskola, also pursued a career in acting. His professional journey began at the Estonia Theatre, where he performed from 1931 until 1935, and returned for a second stint from 1944 to 1949. In between, from 1935 to 1944 and again from 1950 to 1966, he showcased his talents at the Estonian Drama Theatre. Eskola later joined the Estonian Youth Theatre from 1966 to 1969 before transitioning to a freelance acting career.
Throughout his life, Eskola made significant contributions not only to theater but also to film, enjoying a prolific career that spanned several decades. He was married to fellow actress Helle Raa, with whom he shared a deep connection in both life and art.
