Michael Peter Moran (February 8, 1944 - February 4, 2004) was a prominent American actor and playwright known for his impactful contributions to the theater. Born in Yuba City, California, Moran's upbringing was shaped by his father's career as a US Army officer, leading to a dynamic childhood marked by frequent relocations. He began honing his theatrical skills under the mentorship of Gilbert Rathbun at the Seton Hall University theater program, despite not being a formal student, and further developed his craft at the Theater on the Mall in Paramus.

In 1966, Moran made his way to New York City, where he continued his education at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. His creative journey led him to become an integral part of the Manhattan Project and the Cooper-Keaton Group, both of which showcased his original works. One of his notable plays, "Call Me Charlie," featured the talents of Danny DeVito, highlighting Moran's ability to craft engaging narratives. In addition to his playwrighting, Moran graced the stage in various productions for the New York Shakespeare Festival.
