Caterina Caselli, born on April 10, 1946, in Modena, Italy, is a multifaceted talent renowned as a record producer, music executive, singer, and bassist. Raised in Sassuolo, she launched her musical journey performing in local clubs, showcasing her skills on the bass guitar.

Her breakthrough came in 1966 at the prestigious Sanremo Festival with the hit "Nessuno mi può giudicare," a track originally passed over by Adriano Celentano. The song achieved phenomenal success, selling over a million copies and earning a gold disc. Caselli further cemented her status with her Italian rendition of David McWilliams' "Days of Pearly Spencer," titled "Il volto della vita." Her debut album, *Casco d'oro*, reflected a nickname that the media had affectionately given her. That same year, she also enjoyed a hit with "Perdono."

In 1968, she released an energetic version of "Insieme a te non ci sto più," penned by Paolo Conte. Years later, in 2006, she revisited this classic for the soundtrack of Michele Soavi’s neo-noir film *The Goodbye Kiss*, earning the David di Donatello Award for Best Song.

In 1970, Caselli married Piero Sugar, the head of her label CGD, and transitioned to a behind-the-scenes role, eventually becoming president of Sugar Music. She played a pivotal role in discovering and producing notable artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Giuni Russo, and Elisa. After a brief retirement, she returned to the spotlight in 1983 with "Amico è," a collaboration with Dario Baldan Bembo that reached number five on the Italian charts.
