Janice Lynde

Janice Lynde is a distinguished American actress known for her versatile talent in both music and theater. Born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lynde's artistic journey began at an early age with the Dallas Symphony, where she showcased her skills as a pianist and vocal soloist. The daughter of German immigrants Marvin and Sophia Zoch, she faced the challenge of learning English as a child, which only enhanced her determination to succeed in the performing arts.

Her educational pursuits took her to Indiana University and the University of Pennsylvania, where she honed her musical abilities. Lynde's captivating performances at Indiana University caught the eye of renowned musician Fred Waring, leading to a two-year stint as a soloist with his Pennsylvanians choir.

After completing her studies, Lynde transitioned to acting in New York City, earning acclaim on Broadway in productions such as "Applause," "The Me Nobody Knows," and "Butterflies Are Free." In 1973, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she made her mark as an original cast member of CBS's soap opera "The Young and the Restless," portraying the character Leslie Brooks until 1977. She later took on roles in "Another World" as Tracy DeWitt and "One Life to Live" as Laurel Chapin Wolek.

Beyond soap operas, Lynde's television credits include a memorable appearance in the 1977 episode "A Hand for Sonny Blue" of Quinn Martin's "Tales of the Unexpected" and participation in the popular game show "Match Game." Her career reflects a dynamic blend of talents, leaving a lasting impression on audiences across various media.
