His journey in skateboarding began with sponsorship from a local brand, Cherry Bombs. McCrank's talent caught the eye of professional skateboarder Colin McKay, leading him to join the first iteration of Plan B Skateboards after a stint with Tony Hawk's Birdhouse. By the late 1990s, he had officially turned pro under Plan B's banner.

After a hiatus from Plan B, McCrank transitioned to the Girl Distribution Company, becoming an integral member of the Girl team, a position he held as of 2014. He also made a significant mark in the skate shoe industry, designing several models for the éS brand, including the popular éS "Anti-Social" shoe. However, following the brand's hiatus in 2012, he was often seen sporting Lakai footwear.

In early 2014, McCrank collaborated with the California-based lifestyle brand Lifetime, known for its roots in skateboarding and snowboarding, to launch the "Mt. Pleasant" capsule collection. Furthermore, he is recognized as a "Collective" member of Lifetime, joining forces with fellow skateboarders, snowboarders, artists, and filmmakers, showcasing his diverse influence within the action sports community. McCrank’s enduring contributions to skateboarding and culture continue to resonate today.
