Ene Järvis
Ene Järvis (October 26, 1947 – June 24, 2025) was a prominent Estonian actress renowned for her work across stage, film, radio, and television. Born in Kiidjärve, Põlva County to Paul and Amanda Elfriede Järvis, she was the fourth of five siblings. After completing her education at Põlva Secondary School in 1966, Järvis pursued her passion for the performing arts at the Tallinn State Conservatory, graduating in 1970. It was here that she formed a lasting friendship with fellow student Helene Vannari.
In 1970, Järvis joined the National Youth Theatre in Tallinn (now the Tallinn City Theatre), where she showcased her talent for nearly four decades until 2009, after which she transitioned to freelance acting. Her film career took off with a significant role in the 1987 Soviet-Estonian film *Metsluiged*, directed by Helle Karis. Other notable film appearances included *Regina* (1990) and the biopic *Need vanad armastuskirjad* (1992).
Järvis gained widespread recognition for her television roles, particularly as Karu-Kati in the beloved children's program *Mõmmi ja aabits* (1976-1977), and later in the television film *Doktor Stockmann* (1989) and the drama series *Õnne 13* (1995-1996). She continued to appear in various television series, including *Kelgukoerad* (2007) and *Süvahavva*, and was also active in radio theatre, performing notable roles in works by literary greats such as Vladimir Mayakovsky and Oscar Wilde.
