Avédikian's lineage traces back to France, as his parents were descendants of Armenian genocide survivors who returned to their homeland in 1947, influenced by the political landscape of the time. He spent his early years in Yerevan, where he attended a French school before relocating back to France with his family at the age of fifteen. His passion for acting was ignited during his college years, performing in an amateur theater group led by one of his professors.

Following his education at the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Meudon, he moved to Paris in 1971, collaborating with fellow students from the Paris Conservatory. In 1976, Avédikian established his own theater company and produced multiple theatrical productions, while also building his reputation as a versatile actor in theatre, film, and television. In 1988, he launched his own production company, continuing to direct films and expand his creative endeavors.
