Will Hutchins
Will Hutchins, born Marshall Lowell Hutchason, is a distinguished American actor best recognized for his portrayal of Tom Brewster, a young lawyer from the Oklahoma Territory, in the Warner Bros. Western series Sugarfoot. This popular show aired on ABC from 1957 to 1961 and featured Hutchins in a leading role across sixty-nine episodes. Discovered by a talent scout for Warner Bros., he adopted the name Will Hutchins, drawing comparisons to the legendary Oklahoma humorist Will Rogers due to his charming demeanor.
Hutchins' early career included guest appearances on various Warner Bros. television series such as Conflict, Cheyenne, Bronco, Maverick, and 77 Sunset Strip. He also appeared in films like Bombers B-52, Lafayette Escadrille, and No Time for Sergeants, where he auditioned for a lead role alongside James Garner.
His breakthrough came with Sugarfoot, but he continued to expand his repertoire with guest spots on The Roaring 20's, Bronco, and Surfside 6. Hutchins starred in the feature film Spinout alongside Elvis Presley and took on notable roles in productions like The Shooting, where he appeared with Jack Nicholson and Warren Oates.
From 1968 to 1969, he played Dagwood Bumstead in a CBS adaptation of the comic strip Blondie. Hutchins also showcased his versatility by performing as Patches the Clown in circuses and featured in various television shows throughout the 1970s, including Love, American Style and Emergency!
