Helen Kate Shapiro, born on September 28, 1946, is a celebrated British pop and jazz singer, as well as an actress. She rose to fame in the early 1960s, making her mark as one of the most accomplished female artists in Britain during her teenage years. Shapiro's remarkable voice, noted by AllMusic for its "maturity and sensibilities," led her to achieve significant success at a young age. At just 14, she released two chart-topping singles in 1961, "You Don't Know" and "Walkin' Back to Happiness."
Her career took off with her debut single, "Don't Treat Me Like a Child," which climbed to number three on the UK Singles Chart in 1961.
