Hermen Hulst

1 title Production

Hermen Hulst is a prominent Dutch video game executive known for his significant contributions to the industry. Since June 2024, he has held the position of chief executive officer (CEO) of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Studio Business Group, and he has been the president and CEO of PlayStation Studios since November 2019. Before stepping into these key roles, Hulst established himself as a leading figure in game development as the managing director and studio head of Guerrilla Games, a first-party studio for SIE.

In 2001, Hulst co-founded Guerrilla Games after transitioning from Andersen Consulting. His leadership was pivotal when the studio was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2005. Guerrilla Games initially gained fame with the Killzone series but achieved remarkable success with the launch of the Horizon franchise in 2017. Hulst's influence extended beyond Guerrilla as he was appointed vice president of PlayStation Studios (formerly known as Worldwide Studios) in 2011 under Shuhei Yoshida, eventually succeeding him in 2019.

Under his guidance, PlayStation Studios has thrived during the final years of the PlayStation 4 and into the early phase of the PlayStation 5, delivering critically acclaimed titles and expanding the PlayStation brand. In June 2024, Hulst was promoted alongside Hideaki Nishino to serve as joint CEOs of SIE, further solidifying his impact on the gaming landscape.
