Ronny Chieng
Ronny Chieng is a talented stand-up comedian known for his sharp wit and engaging performances. Originally hailing from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, he spent his formative years in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Singapore. In pursuit of higher education, Ronny moved to Australia, where he attended the University of Melbourne, earning both a Degree in Commerce and a Degree in Law in 2009.
His comedic prowess quickly garnered attention, as he was recognized by The Age in 2012 as one of the Top 5 up-and-coming comedians and similarly listed by the Sydney Morning Herald as one of Australia’s Top 10 rising stars. That same year, Ronny made a significant impact with his debut one-hour comedy special, "The Ron Way," at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Sydney Comedy Festival, earning the Best Newcomer award after selling out his entire four-week run and additional shows due to popular demand.
Ronny's talent led him to perform at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal in both 2012 and 2013, as well as at the renowned SOHO Theatre in London, where he enjoyed a sold-out two-week engagement. In 2013, he was again recognized as one of the Top Ten Hottest Comedians by The Age and the Herald Sun. His second one-hour special, "Can You Do This? No You Can't," also sold out rapidly after moving to a larger venue, and he received rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, followed by another successful run at the SOHO Theatre.
