Sook-Yin Lee
Sook-Yin Lee, born in 1966, is a multifaceted talent hailing from Toronto, recognized for her work as a filmmaker, musician, actress, and broadcaster. Lee made her mark in the film industry with her inaugural feature as a writer and director, *Year of the Carnivore*, which showcased the talents of Cristin Milioti and had its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Her performance in the 2014 film *Jack* earned her the prestigious Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by a Lead Dramatic Actress.
In addition to her acting, Lee authored and starred in *Unsafe*, a thought-provoking piece for Canadian Stage that explored themes of censorship and artistic expression. Her directorial prowess was further acknowledged when she won both Best Director and Best Picture at the 2018 Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival for her film *Octavio Is Dead!*.
Beyond her work in film, Lee is also an accomplished music artist and film score composer, contributing tracks to notable works such as *Infinity Pool* and *Antiviral*.
