Paul Welsh
Paul Welsh is a talented American actor, improvisational comedian, and writer hailing from New Fairfield, Connecticut, who has made a significant mark in television and sketch comedy. He pursued his studies at Georgetown University, focusing on political science and Italian, before diving into the world of performance art.
Welsh became a prominent figure in the improv and sketch comedy scene at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), where he joined the house improv team JV by 2008. He has showcased his comedic prowess in two solo performances: "Men in Paintings" and "Paul Welsh Goes to a TED Conference," along with numerous shows across UCB venues on both coasts.
As an actor, Welsh gained recognition for his role as Trent Maddock on the critically acclaimed series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" from 2015 to 2018. He also appeared as Brad Portenburg in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," making a guest appearance in Season 7, which aired in 2020.
In addition to his acting endeavors, Welsh has established himself as a writer and producer. He served as co-producer and executive story editor for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" from 2019 to 2021, becoming part of the first writing duo on the show alongside his collaborator Madeline Walter. His writing credits also include co-writing the sitcom "Killing It" in 2022 and penning the screenplay for the film "Mack & Rita" the same year.
Welsh remains active in the comedy landscape, participating in live performances and podcasts, including collaborative storytelling on an Earwolf podcast with Walter.
