Shaun Chad Smit
Shaun Chad Smit hails from Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, where he pursued a degree in Musical Theatre at the Tshwane University of Technology following his high school graduation. He embarked on his professional acting journey with Henry Mylne’s production of VASELINETJIE, showcased at Aardklop and Woordfees. His breakout role came from 2013 to 2015 when he captivated audiences as Rocky in the acclaimed musical THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at The Fugard Theatre. Additionally, he returned to the stage in Terence Makapan’s poignant drama BENJI, performed during the National Arts Festival in Makhanda.
Shaun’s television and film repertoire encompasses a diverse array of projects, including the American series BLOOD DRIVE on SyFy, the critically acclaimed BLACK MIRROR on Netflix, and Antenna Pictures’ HOW TO ROB A BANK. His notable appearances also include roles in South African productions such as ERFSONDES, DIE SPREEUS, and KLOOF, all featured on KykNET.
In recent years, Shaun has expanded his expertise within the film industry, working as a cinematographer, colourist, and film editor for various companies, including Afterdark Post Production, Red Blur, and Wyrd Films. Despite his growing interest in these roles, acting remains his true passion. He embraces the learning opportunities each position offers, stating, "I'm always learning, whether it’s in the editing suite, behind the camera or in front of the camera - and I’m loving every second of it."
