Dan Abramovici
Dan Abramovici is a Canadian filmmaker and actor, whose journey began when he immigrated to Canada as a teenager. His experiences have deeply influenced his artistic focus on themes of identity and belonging.
After completing the renowned Actor Conservatory at the Canadian Film Centre, Abramovici gained recognition for his debut feature film, *Ben’s At Home*, which he co-wrote and starred in. The film premiered in Canadian theaters and expanded its reach on Netflix in 2017, garnering a wider audience.
His follow-up screenplay, *You Have Feet In Your Shoes*, received acclaim at Cinequest, securing a Top 10 award and subsequent mentorship with esteemed filmmakers like Lawrence Kasdan and Dennis Lehane.
As an actor, Abramovici has showcased his talents in notable television series including *Star Trek: Discovery*, *Wayne*, *What We Do In The Shadows*, *JANE*, and *Tales From The Void*. His film credits also feature *Tehranto*, *The Marsh King’s Daughter*, Sofia Coppola’s *Priscilla*, and the forthcoming *The Fallers*, alongside Georgina Campbell.
In 2019, he transitioned to directing with the short film *liminal*, which won Best Short at the Canadian Film Fest and Snowdance International, and earned an Honorable Mention at the Oscar-qualifying Dances With Films. His subsequent short, *Play It Again*, premiered at the Austin Film Festival, winning the Jury Award for Best Short in 2023.
His latest projects include the proof-of-concept short *Spaceman*, which debuted as an Opening Night Selection at HollyShorts, and the horror short *Heirlooms*, which premiered at Fantasia and won multiple awards. Currently, Abramovici is developing three feature films, including *Searching for Marceau*, a finalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, aimed for release in 2026.
