Rene Costa

Rene Costa was born on September 19 in Nicosia, Cyprus, to Greek Cypriot parents. His father, originally an electrician, transitioned to managing a nightclub, a decision made amid the turbulent political climate of Cyprus during a British coup. Sensing impending instability, the family relocated to the UK, where they faced the aftermath of the 1961-62 War, marked by EOKA's attempts to overthrow President Makarios, resulting in significant casualties.

Settling in England, Rene’s father returned to the nightclub industry, unaware that he would soon encounter the challenges of protection rackets, events that left a lasting impact on Rene's formative years. These experiences shaped his character and perspective on life.

At 16, Rene met his future wife, and they married at 23, nurturing a loving relationship that has flourished over the years. They are proud parents to three children and have welcomed five grandchildren into their family, which has become a source of joy and fulfillment for him.

Rene's love for his work and the people around him is evident in his projects. He draws inspiration from the vibrant culture of the 60s and 70s, particularly in his notable work, "The Crappers," which embodies the spirit of that era and features a cast of unforgettable characters. Throughout his life, Rene has remained committed to celebrating family, community, and the rich traditions of his heritage.
