He gained fame in the 1990s with chart-topping hits like "U Can't Touch This," "2 Legit 2 Quit," and "Pumps and a Bump," coupled with his signature flashy dance moves and iconic Hammer pants.

As a trailblazer in the pop rap genre, Hammer is celebrated for blending elements of freestyle music and was the first hip hop artist to achieve diamond certification for his groundbreaking album, *Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em*.
