Toni Hipwell

Toni Hipwell is an acclaimed trans filmmaker whose innovative work has been showcased at prestigious festivals, including those recognized by the Academy Awards, Canadian Screen Awards, BAFTA, and BIFA.

Their career took off with the debut feature film *Whoops!*, which premiered at Raindance in 2013, where it was celebrated as a Top 10 Pick. The film also earned the distinction of being the sole British entry in the Raindance Tour of 2014. Following this success, Toni has collaborated on various projects with prominent organizations such as the BBC and Searchlight Pictures. They served as the Video Producer for Young Thug Records in partnership with EMI Records and were chosen for both the inaugural Future of Film and IHS X FEAR incubators.

Among Toni's recent accomplishments is the critically acclaimed adaptation of *Standing Woman*, a work by renowned author Yasutaka Tsutsui. This film received a nomination for the Yorkshire Film Award at the Leeds International Film Festival in 2021 and was subsequently acquired by ALTER. Additionally, Toni's latest short film, *The Lure*, has been nominated for the Méliès D’Argent and is currently making its way through festivals worldwide, supported by sponsorship from CenterFrame.
