Sway Calloway
Sway Calloway is a prominent figure in hip-hop culture and a vital member of the MTV News team, with over a decade of experience in music journalism. As an established radio personality, record producer, and hip-hop artist, Sway became part of MTV News in 2000, positioning himself at the forefront of significant musical events.
Sway first gained recognition alongside his partner King Tech, as they showcased breakdancing and rap performances throughout their native Oakland, California. His keen ear for exceptional sound and talent led Interscope to enlist him and Tech for the production of their album, This or That, featuring renowned artists like Eminem, KRS-One, and RZA of Wu-Tang Clan.
Sway serves as a key correspondent for MTV's Choose or Lose and Power of ’12 campaigns. His political interviews have included a range of influential figures, such as Republican National Committee Chair Ed Gillespie, Hillary Clinton, Ron Paul, John McCain, and Mitt Romney. The 2008 presidential campaign offered Sway remarkable opportunities, as he interviewed President Barack Obama four times, and in 2012, he and MTV captured another iconic moment with the President that attracted millions of viewers.
In addition to his political coverage, Sway has been involved in various MTV News projects, including the "All Eyes" series featuring artists like Kanye West and 50 Cent, as well as the "Hottest MC's" list. He plays an essential role in MTV’s live-event coverage, including the Video Music Awards and Grammy pre-shows, while also serving as an Executive Producer for new programming initiatives.
