Erik King
Erik King is a prominent American actor, widely recognized for his role as Sgt. Doakes in Showtime's acclaimed series Dexter. He has also garnered attention for his performances as Moses Deyell on HBO's Oz and Bobby Davidson in Missing Persons.
Born to a father who served as a policeman, King honed his craft at The Duke Ellington High School of Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., before furthering his education at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland.
King's career began with guest appearances in various television shows, including Matlock, NYPD Blue, and JAG. In 1990, he featured in the short-lived ABC police drama Sunset Beat. His portrayal of Moses Deyell in HBO's Oz marked a significant milestone in his early career. He has also made appearances in episodes of popular series such as Malcolm in the Middle, Charmed, and CSI: Miami, as well as taking on the role of Travis Hayward in The District and appearing in CBS' Touched by an Angel.
In addition to his television work, King has acted in several feature films, including the adventure flick National Treasure and the thriller Desperate Measures. His breakthrough role came with Dexter, where he portrayed police detective James Doakes across 24 episodes from 2006 to 2007. This role earned him a Saturn Award nomination in 2008 for Best Supporting Actor on Television.
