Karl Lieffen

Karl Lieffen, born Karel František Lifka on May 17, 1926, in Osek, Czechoslovakia, was a prominent German actor whose career spanned nearly half a century. Over his lifetime, he made significant contributions to both film and television, appearing in more than 140 productions from 1949 until 1998.

Lieffen's artistic journey began with formal training in drama at the Hochschule für Musik in Bückeburg and further studies in Brunswick. He launched his theatrical career in Freiburg in 1946, later performing at prestigious venues such as the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden, the Munich Kammerspiele, and the Opern- und Schauspielhaus in Frankfurt. In 1975, he became a member of the Bavarian State Theatre ensemble, also known as the Residenz Theatre, in Munich.

Lieffen gained widespread recognition during the 1950s, particularly for his role as the lively chauffeur Fritz in Billy Wilder's acclaimed film *One, Two, Three*. His versatile performances and captivating presence made him a beloved figure in the German entertainment industry.

Karl Lieffen passed away on January 13, 1999, in Starnberg, Germany, leaving behind a legacy that showcased his talent and dedication to the arts. His contributions continue to be celebrated by fans and colleagues alike.
