Sean Frye was born in Hollywood to an American actor and an Irish mother, marking the beginning of his connection to the entertainment industry. At just 6 years old, he was thrust into the world of commercial television, and by age 9, he was honing his craft under the guidance of esteemed acting coach Mr. Lee Strasberg at The Actors Studio. His breakout moment came when director Ted Kotcheff discovered him in a Crest toothpaste commercial, casting him as Billy in the 1977 film "Fun with Dick and Jane," without even a formal audition.

Frye's family played a significant role in his journey; his father, Virgil Frye (1930-2012), met caterer Sondra Peluce on set, leading to the birth of his sister, actress Soleil Moon Frye. He notably introduced Soleil to his talent agency, Herb Tannen & Associates, which paved the way for her successful career. Sean's stage credits include prominent productions like "The Petrified Man" and "Skyjack '76, Entebbe," as well as appearances in TV shows alongside Elizabeth Montgomery and Melissa Gilbert.

Best remembered for his role as Steve in the iconic film "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" (1982), Frye had already traveled the world by the age of 14. After a brief marriage to Rita Trinidad in 1987 and a shift to social work following personal tragedies, he found love again in 1993 with retired army veteran Michael Alexander, whom he met during a parking ticket incident. The couple adopted their son, Logan Frye Alexander, in 2003, solidifying their happy family life.
