Denis Carey (3 August 1909 – 28 September 1986) was a distinguished British actor renowned for his extensive work in film and television. His most significant achievement came from his role in the celebrated revue Salad Days, which captivated audiences with an impressive run of 2,283 performances during the London season of 1954-55.

Born in London to May (née Wilkinson) and William Denis Carey, Carey’s career spanned several decades and showcased his versatility in various genres. He made memorable appearances in Dennis Potter's 1968 series A Beast With Two Backs and was featured in the acclaimed historical dramas Elizabeth R and I, Claudius. Additionally, he played pivotal roles in The Barchester Chronicles, further solidifying his place in British television history.

Carey is perhaps best remembered by science fiction fans for his three appearances in the iconic BBC series Doctor Who. He portrayed Professor Chronotis in the unfinished serial Shada, took on the role of the Keeper in The Keeper of Traken, and played the deceptive old man Borad in Timelash.
