Charton Christopher Frantz is a celebrated American musician, producer, and author, recognized for his significant contributions to the music industry. He was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and pursued his education at the Rhode Island School of Design in the early 1970s. During his time there, he crossed paths with fellow musicians David Byrne and Tina Weymouth, leading to the formation of the band Artistics, which eventually evolved into the iconic new wave group Talking Heads. Weymouth, who was Frantz's girlfriend at the time, joined the band in 1975, and the couple tied the knot in 1977.

In 1981, Frantz and Weymouth ventured into a new project by establishing Tom Tom Club, which gained widespread acclaim with their hit single "Genius of Love," a track that has left an indelible mark on pop and hip-hop music. Frantz's remarkable career was celebrated when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Talking Heads in 2002.
