Amir Sulaiman

Amir Sulaiman is a versatile American creative, hailing from Rochester, New York, known for his impactful contributions as a poet, musician, screenwriter, producer, and activist. He first captured national attention in 2004 through his compelling performances on HBO's *Def Poetry Jam*, where his poignant spoken-word pieces addressing social issues struck a chord with audiences across the country. Since then, Sulaiman has toured around the globe, combining elements of hip-hop, spirituality, and social critique in his work.

In the realm of music, Sulaiman has produced a celebrated trilogy of spoken-word albums: *The Meccan Openings* (2011), *The Medinan Openings* (2012), and *The Opening* (2013). Additionally, his 2012 poetry collection, *Love, Gnosis & Other Suicide Attempts*, received significant acclaim.
