Raymond Chow Man-Wai (鄒文懷) was a prominent figure in the Hong Kong film industry, known for his influential role as a film producer. He embarked on his career as a newspaper journalist before expanding his expertise in media production through work in radio and television. Chow’s journey in film began in earnest in 1959 when he became part of the Shaw Brothers studio in Hong Kong.

In 1970, he founded Golden Harvest, which produced eight films in its inaugural year. The company quickly gained prominence, notably through its successful partnership with the legendary Bruce Lee, which helped to popularize a new genre of films across the globe. By 1980, Golden Harvest celebrated its tenth anniversary, and Chow was honored as the International Showman of the Year by the National Association of Theater Owners, acknowledging his impact on the American film industry.

Golden Harvest has consistently pushed boundaries within the Asian film sector, making significant inroads into the Japanese market and achieving remarkable box office success, particularly through collaborations with iconic actor Jackie Chan.

In 1987, Chow was awarded the O.B.E., and more recently, he received the Tokyo Creative Award for his contributions to Asian cinema. His accolades include a Lifetime Achievement Award from Cineasia in 1996 and the prestigious Order of the Sacred Treasure with Golden Rays and Rosette, awarded by the Emperor of Japan, recognizing his efforts in enhancing cultural and commercial ties between Hong Kong and Japan.
