Moriz Seeler
Moriz Seeler, originally named Moritz Seeler, was born on March 1, 1896, and tragically passed away on August 18, 1942. He was a multifaceted individual, recognized as a German Jewish poet, author, film producer, and theatrical figure.
In August 1942, Seeler faced the horrific reality of being deported by the Nazi regime from Berlin to Riga, Latvia. He was among a group of 1,003 individuals, including men, women, and children, who were forcibly taken from their homes. Subsequently, this group met a devastating fate, as they were executed in the nearby forests of Rumbula and Bikernieki.
Seeler's contributions to literature and the arts reflect a vibrant creativity that was tragically cut short due to the atrocities of the Holocaust. His legacy continues to remind us of the profound loss suffered by countless artists and intellectuals during this dark chapter of history.
