Baya Kasmi
Baya Kasmi, born in 1978 in Toulouse, France, has made significant contributions to both screenwriting and directing in the French film industry. Her collaboration with Michel Leclerc began with the television series Âge sensible in 2002, which explored themes of adolescence. Kasmi's breakthrough came with the screenplay for Le Nom des gens in 2010, a semi-autobiographical narrative that garnered a César Award, solidifying her reputation as a talented writer. She continued her partnership with Leclerc on subsequent projects, including La vie très privée de Monsieur Slim in 2015 and La lutte des classes in 2018.
In her directorial endeavors, Kasmi first gained acclaim through her short film J'aurais pu être une pute, which received a César nomination for Best Short Film in 2012. This film introduced audiences to Vimala Pons, who later starred in her feature debut, Je suis à vous tout de suite, released in 2015.
Kasmi further expanded her repertoire by working as a screenwriter for various notable projects, including collaborations with Thomas Lilti on Hippocrate and Médecin de campagne.
