Sandy Batchelor grew up on the east coast of Scotland before honing his craft at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. After his training, he has had the opportunity to work in theaters across the UK, taking on a diverse array of characters. Most recently, he portrayed First Soldier and served as the understudy for Cassio in Othello, directed by Nic Hytner, as well as playing Sergeant Conrad in The Captain of Kopenick, directed by Adrian Noble, both at the National Theatre. His previous performances include the role of the Boatswain in The Tempest, also under Adrian Noble’s direction, Brodie in The Real Thing directed by Kate Saxon, and Jack in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk directed by Andrew Panton at Perth Theatre.

From 2009 to 2011, Sandy showcased his talents at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, appearing as Dr. Johnston in Dr. Angelus, Bo Decker in Bus Stop, Steven Flowers in Privates on Parade, Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady, Bill Calhoun in Kiss Me, Kate, Sergeant Odd in Whisky Galore – A Musical!, and Prince Charlemagne in Cinderella under the direction of John Durnin, Ken Alexander, and Richard Barron. He also took on the role of the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz at Citizens Theatre, directed by Guy Hollands and Andrew Panton. In addition to stage work, Sandy's film and radio credits include his portrayal of Angus Crombie in Our World War for BBC3, Private McGregor in Magic Grandad for BBC1, and Watty in Silver Bullet for BBC Radio 4.
