Priscilla Alden
Priscilla Diane Alden, a prominent character actress known for her robust presence, was born on June 27, 1939, in San Francisco, California. She later relocated with her family to Santa Barbara, where she completed her high school education before attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. Following her undergraduate studies, she earned a master's degree in English literature from the University of Montana, after which she pursued her passion for acting at the School of Drama at San Francisco State College.
Throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, Alden became a familiar face in the Bay Area theater scene, performing in a variety of productions at esteemed venues such as the Magic Theatre, Theatre Rhinoceros, and the One Act Theatre Company. Her remarkable talent earned her the Bay Area Theatre Critics Award in 1982 for her standout performance as Lady Bracknell in "Earnest in Love" at the Lamplighters theatre. Alden also made appearances in operatic productions as a spear carrier.
However, it was her role as the disturbed serial killer Ethal Janowski in the cult classic "Criminally Insane" (1975) that solidified her legacy in cinema. Additionally, her portrayal of the menacing Edith Mortley in "Death Nurse" (1987) further showcased her talent for playing unforgettable characters. Priscilla Alden passed away on August 24, 2007, at the age of 68, due to complications from diabetes, leaving behind a rich legacy in theater and film.
