Benjamin Sutherland
**Benjamin Sutherland Biography**
Benjamin Dennis Scott Sutherland, born on May 24, 1990, is a talented Canadian actor and writer based in Toronto, Ontario. Hailing from Victoria, British Columbia, he was raised in the nearby town of Sidney in a nurturing family environment. His father, Darren, is an electrical contractor, while his mother, Stephanie, has dedicated her time to being a homemaker and secretary. Benjamin is the eldest sibling, with a younger brother, Joshua, and a sister, Mollynda, all of whom he credits for their unwavering support.
In his youth, Sutherland was actively involved in sports, excelling in soccer, volleyball, and baseball. Although he harbored aspirations of becoming an NHL hockey player, financial constraints led him to focus on baseball, attending the Diamond for Excellence Baseball Academy at Lambrick Park Secondary School. Unfortunately, an injury during a game curtailed his baseball ambitions, but it was during recovery that he discovered his passion for acting, inspired by Sean Penn's performance in "Dead Man Walking" (1995).
After graduating in 2008, Benjamin initially pursued a carpentry apprenticeship, working alongside his father in building custom homes on Vancouver Island. However, he balanced this with his burgeoning interest in theatre, training under esteemed coaches like Andrew McIlroy and Larry Moss. In 2013, he made a pivotal decision to leave carpentry to fully commit to acting, enrolling at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and later the National Theatre School of Canada, from which he graduated in May 2016.
