Selen Uçer
Leyla Selen Uçer, born on May 5, 1983, is a prominent Turkish actress celebrated for her diverse performances in film and theatre. Raised by parents who were both chemical engineers, Uçer first honed her academic skills at St. George's Austrian High School before pursuing a degree in chemistry at Boğaziçi University. It was during her university years that her passion for acting blossomed, as she became an active member of the university's acting club. She further expanded her artistic training by studying singing at the Istanbul University State Conservatory and later, received a scholarship to study at Academy Istanbul. Uçer also completed her master’s degree at Roosevelt University in Chicago on a scholarship.
Her career took off with the 2004 film *Anlat İstanbul*, penned by Ümit Ünal. She gained additional recognition for her role in the play *Bug*, adapted by DOT, and her performance in Haldun Dormen’s *Kantocu*, which earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical or Comedy at the Afife Jale Awards. Uçer received critical acclaim for her lead role as Gül in the 2007 film *Ara*, sharing the Best Actress award at the 15th International Adana Film Festival. Other notable works include *O... Çocukları* and *Hanımın Çiftliği*. In 2019, she won the Golden Orange Award for Best Actress for her role in Ümit Ünal's *Aşk, Büyü, vs.* Uçer continues to be a vital force in the Turkish entertainment industry, known for her versatility and dedication to her craft.
