Shogo Shiotani

Shogo Shiotani embarked on his professional journey as a stuntman with JAC (now known as Japan Action Enterprises), where he often portrayed formidable villains and towering monsters in the realm of tokusatsu. His notable acting debut came in 1988 when he took on the role of Akira Hojo, also known as Cybercop Mars, in the popular "Cybercop" series. A lifelong fan of tokusatsu, Shiotani had always aspired to embody heroic characters in these productions.

Over the years, Shiotani accrued an impressive portfolio, appearing in more than 20 feature films released on video and making over 15 guest appearances on various television shows, encompassing sitcoms, dramas, and variety programs in Japan. Despite his success, the economic downturn in Japan in 2001 severely impacted his life and career. Shiotani had hopes of reviving the "Cybercop" series that had brought him fame, but when his proposal was rejected by the producers, he fell into a deep depression.

Tragically, on May 5, 2002, faced with financial hardship and unemployment, Shiotani took his own life by jumping from a building in the Dougenzaka area. His untimely passing was mourned by many, including fellow actors Yuki Yoshida and Takashi Koura, who honored him at his funeral. Shiotani's legacy lives on in the hearts of tokusatsu fans and the industry he loved.
