Anocha Suwichakornpong
Anocha Suwichakornpong, born in Thailand in 1976, is a distinguished filmmaker and screenwriter whose career has garnered international acclaim. In the 1990s, she moved to England, where she pursued higher education and earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree. Her passion for film led her to Columbia University, where she completed her MFA in film in 2006, gaining recognition as a recipient of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Fellowship.
That same year, Suwichakornpong participated in the Talent Campus at the Berlin Film Festival, where her feature screenplay, The White Room, was selected as one of just 15 projects to undergo development in the esteemed Script Clinic.
Her thesis project, Graceland, marked a significant milestone in her career as it became the first Thai short film to be showcased in the prestigious Cinefondation program at the 59th Cannes Film Festival. Graceland also made a notable appearance at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and received accolades at numerous other film festivals, solidifying her reputation in the global film community. Through her work, Anocha Suwichakornpong continues to pave the way for Thai cinema on the international stage.
