Darren Robinson (June 10, 1967 – December 10, 1995), famously known as Buffy, The Human Beat Box, and DJ Doctor Nice, was a key figure in the rap scene as a member of the iconic 1980s group The Fat Boys. Alongside Doug E. Fresh and other artists, he was instrumental in popularizing beatboxing, a unique vocal percussion style that became a staple in hip-hop during the 1980s and 1990s.

Robinson gained widespread recognition when The Fat Boys appeared in the 1985 film *Krush Groove*, initially credited as Disco Three before adopting their well-known name. The film, which highlighted the early years of Def Jam Recordings, featured notable artists like Run DMC, LL Cool J, and the Beastie Boys. The Fat Boys showcased their talent by winning a talent contest in the movie, despite previous mockery.

However, Robinson's life took a tumultuous turn in 1990 amid a scandal involving a controversial incident at a party, resulting in a $10,000 fine. As the group's popularity waned, Robinson faced personal challenges, including health issues exacerbated by his weight. At the time of his passing from a heart attack at age 28, he weighed 450 pounds and had recently been diagnosed with lymphedema. His brother Curt, who also managed him, reported that Darren had been actively working on a reunion album for The Fat Boys, striving for a comeback in the music world.
