Juan Atkins

Juan Atkins, an influential American DJ and record producer recognized as the "Godfather of Techno," was born on September 12, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan. After relocating to Belleville, Michigan, he forged lasting friendships with fellow musicians Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson during their junior high school years. Together, they would become known as The Belleville Three, a pivotal group in the evolution of techno music.

In 1980, Atkins partnered with Richard Davis to establish Cybotron, a project that would lay the groundwork for the genre. Their groundbreaking electro album, *Enter*, was released in 1983, marking a significant milestone in electronic music. Following his time with Cybotron, Atkins explored various artistic identities, producing under names such as Model 500 and Infiniti, and collaborating as part of the duo Borderland.

Atkins' innovations and contributions to the music scene, alongside contemporaries like Saunderson, May, and Eddie Fowlkes, are foundational to the creation and popularization of techno.
