Mark Arm
Mark Arm, born Mark McLaughlin on February 21, 1962, is best known as the frontman of the influential grunge band Mudhoney. A prominent figure in Seattle's music scene, he is often associated with the creation of the term "grunge," which he used to characterize the sound of his band and other local acts, although Kurt Cobain later suggested that it was Sub Pop's Jonathon Poneman who originated the term.
Prior to Mudhoney, Arm was a member of Green River, recognized as one of the pioneering bands of the grunge movement alongside notable acts such as Malfunkshun, Soundgarden, and Skin Yard. Green River's music laid the groundwork for what would become the grunge phenomenon of the early 1990s.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Arm has also made contributions as the manager of the Sub Pop warehouse, a key player in the Seattle music label that helped launch the careers of numerous grunge bands. His previous experience includes a position at Fantagraphics Books, showcasing his diverse interests beyond music. Over the years, Arm has been celebrated for his artistic impact, helping shape the sound and identity of a genre that would define a generation.
