Miss DuPont
Miss DuPont (April 28, 1894 – February 6, 1973) was a prominent American actress and fashion designer, often recognized under the name Patty DuPont. Born Patricia Hannon in Frankfort, Kentucky, some records inaccurately list Frankfort, Indiana, as her birthplace.
Her career in film began in 1919 with her debut in The Day She Paid, but she rose to fame with her memorable role in Erich von Stroheim's controversial film Foolish Wives (1922), where she portrayed a wealthy, unsuspecting American woman who falls victim to the manipulations of Stroheim's sinister count. Although Stroheim is often credited with her discovery, Miss DuPont had already established her presence in the film industry prior to this breakthrough role.
Throughout her career, she showcased her talent across various genres, leaving a lasting impact on the silent film era. In addition to her work in cinema, she ventured into the world of fashion design, further broadening her artistic contributions.
Miss DuPont spent her later years in Palm Beach, Florida, where she passed away in 1973. Her legacy continues to be remembered for her contributions to both film and fashion, representing a unique blend of artistic expression in the early 20th century.
