Ashley Kahn
Ashley Kahn, born in 1960, is a distinguished American music historian, journalist, and producer, celebrated for his contributions to the understanding of jazz music. Raised in Cincinnati after his birth in the Bronx, New York, Kahn pursued his education at Columbia University, graduating in 1983. During his time at Columbia, he became known as "The Cincinnati Kid" while hosting a jazz and blues radio program on WKCR.
Kahn's literary accomplishments include co-authoring the autobiography of legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, titled *The Universal Tone: Bringing My Story to Light*, released in 2014. His expertise shines through in his critically acclaimed works that delve into iconic jazz albums, particularly *Kind of Blue* by Miles Davis and *A Love Supreme* by John Coltrane.
In addition to his books, Kahn is an active contributor to music journalism, writing articles, conducting interviews, and producing liner notes for various record labels. His exceptional work in this area has garnered him three ASCAP/Deems Taylor Awards and three Grammy nominations. In 2015, he received a Grammy Award for his liner notes for the John Coltrane album *Offering: Live at Temple University*, further solidifying his reputation in the music industry.
