Tom Ohmer
**Biography of Tom Ohmer**
Tom Ohmer, born in Michigan to Donald and Sofka Ohmer, is the middle child among five siblings. His mother, a Bulgarian native who grew up in Austria, endured internment by the Nazis during World War II. After her liberation, she immigrated to the U.S., where she met Donald, who served in the Army. Tom grew up in Carmel, Indiana, graduating from Carmel High School in 1974, before following in his father's footsteps by enlisting in the U.S. Army.
He later attended Indiana University, joining the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. His journey into entertainment began with a modeling opportunity in the university's "Little 500 Fashion Show," leading to a small role in the film *Breaking Away.* This sparked his passion for acting, prompting him to move to Chicago and pursue modeling and acting in commercials. In 1981, he relocated to Hollywood, where he landed his first acting role on the iconic series *Dynasty*.
In 1988, Tom shifted gears, inspired by his grandfather’s legacy as a motorcycle officer, and he joined the Los Angeles Police Department. His unique background allowed him to contribute to LAPD training films, and after the LA Riots in 1992, he transitioned to the Simi Valley Police Department as a motorcycle officer. Throughout his career, he balanced law enforcement with acting, portraying police roles in various productions.
Tom recently retired from full-time policing to focus solely on acting, earning recognition as Reserve Officer of the Year twice. He is married to his college sweetheart, Marsha Dunfee, and they actively participate in community service and charity events, particularly those supporting the military. Residing in Thousand Oaks, California, Tom enjoys family time, golfing, and motorcycling, having logged over 400,000 miles on his Harley-Davidson. He continues to work on film projects, including *The Bill Collector* and *The Chicago 8.*
