Yanna McIntosh
Yanna McIntosh, born in 1970 in Jamaica, is a distinguished actress who has made her mark in Canadian stage, film, and television. She cultivated her artistic skills at the University of Toronto and further refined her craft at the American Repertory Theatre Institute at Harvard University. As an educator, Yanna has played a pivotal role at the National Theatre School and Humber College, where she directed students in celebrated productions such as "Macbeth," "Julius Caesar," and "Richard III."
Her exceptional performance as Pat Barrows in the 2006 television movie "Doomstown" earned her the prestigious Gemini Award in 2007 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role. In 2011, Yanna achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first recipient of the Toronto Theatre Critics’ Award for Best Actress in a Play for her striking performance in "Ruined." This role not only earned her this accolade but also a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Performance. McIntosh's talent has been recognized with multiple Dora Awards, including ones for her work in "Belle," directed by Florence Gibson, and Athol Fugard’s "Valley Song."
