Bronislau Kaper

Bronisław Kaper (February 5, 1902 – April 26, 1983) was a distinguished Polish composer renowned for his contributions to film music and musical theater across Germany, France, and the United States. Due to a clerical error during his immigration, he was often referred to as Bronislau Kaper, but he was also credited under various names, including Bronislaw Kaper and Benjamin Kapper.

Kaper gained lasting recognition for his creation of jazz classics, most notably "On Green Dolphin Street," with lyrics by Ned Washington, and "Invitation," featuring lyrics by Paul Francis Webster. These pieces served as the title tracks for the respective Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films, *Green Dolphin Street* (1947) and *Invitation* (1952).

Among his remarkable achievements, Kaper was awarded an Academy Award for Best Original Score for his work on the MGM musical *Lili* (1953). His versatile talents extended to scoring the 1962 remake of *Mutiny on the Bounty* and composing for the popular television series *The F.B.I.*, which aired from 1965 to 1974. Throughout his career, Kaper's innovative compositions left an indelible mark on the landscape of film music, solidifying his legacy as a significant figure in the industry.
