Jeong Ae-ran, originally named Ye Dae-im, was born in 1927 in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do. Her journey in the arts began after she left Huaguang Girls' School in China, where she found her passion for performance. In 1943, she took her first steps into the entertainment industry by joining a musical theater group, which paved the way for her illustrious acting career.

Her film debut came in 1955 with the movie "Watermill," directed by Lee Hyun. Jeong quickly became a prominent figure in the film industry, often taking on roles in horror films that showcased her versatility and depth as an actress. Notably, in 1979, her outstanding performance in "Eulhwa," directed by Byeon Jang-ho, earned her the prestigious Best Supporting Actress award at the 18th Grand Bell Awards. This accolade highlighted her remarkable talent and solidified her status as a respected actress in Korean cinema.
