Pippi Zornoza
Pippi Zornoza, born in 1978, is a multifaceted American visual artist and notable figure in the cult film scene, recognized for her role in the 2005 movie 'Die You Zombie Bastards!', directed by Caleb Emerson. She is also the sister of acclaimed novelist Andrew Zornoza. Zornoza earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2001.
As a co-founder of the Dirt Palace, an influential artist collective situated in Providence, Rhode Island's Olneyville neighborhood, Zornoza has made significant contributions to the local art community. Her artwork, characterized by the use of fabric, textiles, and embroidery, features intricate patterns that often include motifs of skulls, swords, birds, and predatory animals. Her creations have garnered international attention, with exhibitions in countries such as Argentina, Colombia, and Sweden, and she has been featured in the acclaimed art-poster anthology, *The Art of Modern Rock*.
In March 2008, Zornoza participated in a notable exhibition at P.S. 1, sponsored by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), showcasing her work alongside other artists from the Dirt Palace. In 2010, she engaged in a dialogue about Contemporary Printmaking with Guggenheim Curator Lauren Hinkson at the AS220 gallery. Additionally, Zornoza is a talented percussionist, having performed with various bands, including Bonedust, which toured the U.S. in 2006. Currently, she is collaborating with musician Chrissy Wolpert on a rock opera as part of her project with Bonedust.
