Jared Raab
Jared Raab is a talented Canadian filmmaker and writer, celebrated for his contributions to the acclaimed television series Nirvanna the Band the Show.
Hailing from Millbrook, Ontario, Raab pursued his passion for filmmaking at York University, where he began crafting a series of short films. His breakthrough moment came in 2011 with the short film The Revenge Plot, which garnered the Fan Favorite award at the RBC Emerging Filmmakers Competition. Following this success, Raab expanded his repertoire by directing music videos for a variety of artists, including Born Ruffians, Arkells, Ohbijou, and Andy Shauf. His work in this genre earned him two nominations for the prestigious Prism Prize, recognizing his direction on July Talk's "Picturing Love" in 2017 and Andy Shauf's "Clove Cigarette" in 2021.
Before collaborating on Nirvanna the Band the Show, Raab served as the cinematographer for Matt Johnson's films The Dirties and Operation Avalanche. In addition to his cinematographic contributions, he played a vital role as a writer for the series, which showcased his unique storytelling style.
Raab's talent has been acknowledged with two Canadian Screen Award nominations for Best Writing in a Comedy Series for episodes "The Bean" and "The Book" at the 6th and 7th Canadian Screen Awards, respectively. Moreover, he received a nomination for Best Direction in a Documentary Series at the 10th Canadian Screen Awards in 2022 for This Is Pop, further cementing his status in the Canadian film landscape.
