Danielle Brooks is a versatile American actress with a dynamic career that includes notable television, film, and Broadway performances. She rose to fame through her portrayal of Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in the acclaimed Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, which aired from 2013 to 2019. Her role became a pivotal emotional anchor for the series and firmly established her footprint in the television landscape.

Brooks further broadened her audience appeal by taking on the character Leota Adebayo in James Gunn’s HBO series Peacemaker, where her compelling performance contributed to the series’ unique blend of action, satire, and character exploration, marking her foray into genre television associated with DC Comics.

Her theatrical talents shone brightly during her Broadway debut in the 2015 revival of The Color Purple, where she portrayed Sofia.
